Rev. Williams had gone to the field to do some plowing earlier in the morning and when he had not returned near noon, members of the family went to the field and found him dead. It seemed that one of the horses had stepped upon him, but as the check lines were over his shoulders, it was thought the horses had turned after Rev. Williams had fallen.
He had just recently closed Revival meeting at one of his churches and had held a baptizing.
Born in Ohio, November 2, 1868, Rev. Williams moved with his family to Virginia while a small boy. They later moved to Texas and came to Oklahoma in the fall of 1897. He was ordained as a minister of the Missouri Baptist Church on November 16, 1902, and had been following his work ever since. He was the father of 10 children, 8 living and 2 dead.
Rev. Williams is survived by his wife, Mrs. J. A. Williams; five daughters, Mrs. Georgia Cotner of Washington, Okla., Mrs. Addie Morris of this city, Mrs. Beatrice Smith of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Anna Lash of Custer City, Okla., and Mrs. Mary Davis of Allen, Okla.; three sons, Sidney and Lloyd Williams of this city and John Williams of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Mrs. Janie Johnson of Bristol, Tenn.
Rev. Williams was a member of both the Masonic and Odd Fellows Lodges of this city.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Allen, Oklahoma, followed by interment in the Allen cemetery." Wetumka Gazette (Wetumka, Oklahoma), September 28, 1934
