Gertrude was the daughter of Palmer and Emma E. (Williamson) Thomas. She was 77 years old at the time of her passing. Gertrude was the wife of Dewey A. Turner. They were married on August 12, 1922, in Tennessee. She was a resident of Monroe, Mi., but passed away at St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo, Ohio, where she had been a patient for eleven days. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church, where her services were held. From 1942, until her retirement, she had worked for Monroe Auto Equipment Co. 23 years as an assembler. Surviving were her stepmother, Mrs. Jossie Thomas of Maryville, Tn., three sons, Edwin E. of Monroe, Mi., O'Niel of Concord, N.C., and Dewey E. of LaSalle, Mi; a daughter, Mrs. Carson L. (Gladys E.) West; a brother, Vaughn Thomas of Kingston, TN; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Viola) Campbell, Mrs. Willie Spradling and Mrs. Jessie Arnold, all of Maryville, and Ms. Georgia Thomas of Knoxville, TN; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by two brothers, Hobart and Kelly Thomas, and a sister, Della Overbay. Bearers for Gertrude were Kenneth Welch, Dewey Braden, Richard Welch, James Martin, Hobert Pattern, and Roger Kerkenbush.
