Funeral services for Jimmy Ray Johnson will be held at 10 am, Thursday, April 5, 2012 in the First United Pentecostal Church of Oakdale with the Reverend Jim Pender, Reverend Bryan Johnson, Reverend Rodney Monk, and Reverend Tim Kelley officiating. Committal service will follow in the Cryer Cemetery in Oakdale under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale.

Jimmy, 74, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 2, 2012 in his residence. He was born on April 24, 1937, in Oakdale to Edgar Miller Johnson and Mary Evelyn Thigpen Johnson. He was a lifetime member of the First UPC of Oakdale. After graduating from Oakdale High School in 1955, he worked for Butler's Dry Cleaners, Elizabeth Paper Mill, Vancouver Plywood Company, and Boise Cascade. After retirement he opened Jim's Business Service and served the community as an accountant, Notary Public and processing income taxes with a smile. He served as former Trustee, Usher, Sound Technician, and kitchen helper at the church, which he attended. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his fruit trees. In the mornings you could see Jimmy entering the gym as he enjoyed water aerobics, which he served as "Morning Aerobic Instructor". He served on the Board of Directors at The Health Enrichment Network. His grandchildren enjoyed the rides they took around the neighborhood on his golf cart. He also was a loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. The family would like to thank all the clients that have depended on him through the years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his loving wife of forty-five years, Laura Lee Pender Johnson; one daughter, Tonia Johnson; and one brother, Charles Johnson.

He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, Daryl Johnson of Lake Charles; Twinda Johnson of Oakdale, Sandra Bushnell and husband Bruce of Oakdale, Amy Thompson Lemoine and husband Scotty of Pineville; one brother, Dr. Don Johnson and wife Tish of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Lyric, Joyce and Bradyn Bushnell of Oakdale, Logan Phillips and Madilyn Lemoine of Pineville and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Ray Pender, Jr., Jamey Soileau, Gary Pender, Mark Pender, John Fazande, Greg Johnson, Scott Johnson, Joey Pender, Jimmy Pender and Jeff Doucet.

Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Riley Doucet, Bentley Doucet, Zane Wing, Bradyn Bushnell, Logan Phillips, (Pool Crew) Mark Strother, Charles Reeves, Charles Johnson and Freddy Monk.

Jellybean girls to serve will be Lyric Bushnell, Joyce Bushnell, Madilyn Lemoine, Macey Wing, and Maggie Doucet.

Friends may call today from 11 am to 8 pm and Thursday from 8 am until time of service in the church.
