YOUTH KILLED, TWO INJURED AS AUTO LEAVES ROAD
OGDEN
John Ross Thornberg, 16, son of Mrs. William T. Watts, South Weber, was killed instantly and two other persons were seriously injured Wednesday at 2:50 a.m. when the car in which they were passengers went off the Uninta dug way on U.S. highway 30 and 89 and rolled about 30 feet to the bottom of the incline.
The eastbound car, which contained six other young people went over the decline when Darrel Ray, 17, son of William Ray, South Weber, dropped off to sleep at the wheel, according to State Highway Patrolman M.C. Gayle from the car as it turned end over end during the drop and then he was crushed beneath the car, dying instantly according to officers.
John Ross Thornbergh was born December 5, 1928 in Bingham, a son of the late Nels John Thornberg and Edna (Tompson)Thornberg.
About two months ago he moved to South Weber with his mother when she was married to William T. Watts.
He was a graduate of West Jordan junior high school and had been active in LFS church work in the Copperton and Midvale LDS wards. He had been employed at the Ogden arsenal prior to his death.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist & Fernelius mortuary, Salt Lake City.
Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
