Lois Kathryn Anderson Clark passed away March 31, 2012, at the age of 92. She was born November 25, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, the third of four children born to Abner Joachim and Cena Caroline Morley Anderson. She grew up in Sanpete County.
As a child Lois played the violin, the piano and did somersaults. She went to school in Ephraim and at Snow College. She became a registered nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, and it was here that she met James Kyle Clark during his medical internship at Holy Cross. They were married on July 28, 1942 and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 7, 1943. After Kyle completed his military service after World War II, they settled in Provo, Utah.
Lois maintained her beautiful creative mind, unfailing curiosity and passionate learning until the end. She had many interests which were pursued with enthusiasm during her long life. Lois loved being a mother and homemaker and her main focus was always her family. She was a gifted artist, seamstress and a kite maker, patenting her beautiful kite design, the "Hurrikite". She believed a person's best moments were spent with their faces skyward.
Lois had strong Danish Roots and loved doing her genealogy, finding lost relatives with whom she's sharing stories now. In the years before her husband Kyle's death, they spent many outings searching the wild places for birds. She created a backyard bird sanctuary and always kept a pair of binoculars nearby.
Lois enjoyed doing origami and kept her fingers nimble folding intricate beetles and spiders, which she tucked into the ubiquitous notes of love and gratitude she liked to send. Lois was a legend in the kitchen, but in her later years her kitchen skills became a serious study. She enjoyed "Food Network" from her recliner and printed out hundreds of "Five Star" recipes which were then served up to impressed and grateful eaters.
Lois will be greatly missed by her devoted children; James Kyle Clark, Jr. and wife Melissa; Kathryn C. Spencer and husband Darrell; John A. Clark and wife Renee; Brent A. Clark; Carol Ann (Andy) C. Hayes and husband John K. Jr.; Kristine C. Chapman; 20 wonderful grandchildren; and 30 precious great-grandchildren. Lois is preceded in death by her husband James Kyle Clark, Sr., M.D.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, 185 East Center Street, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday evening from 6 until 8. There will be no visitation prior to services on Friday. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street.
