Ida "Billie" Sloan,85,of New Castle,passed away Tuesday,Apr. 3,2012,at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born May 4,1926,in Burkesville,KY.,to the late Tas and Minnie (Melton) Stailey.

She retired from the State of Indiana,working for the Soldiers and Sailors home for children, after 20 years of service. She had previously been employed at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville,KY.,for 11 years. Ida was a member of the Baptist Church in Knightstown. She enjoyed cooking,visiting with friends and helping the elderly.

Survivors include a son,Larry E. (wife Faye) Sloan of Anderson;four grandchildren,Brian E. (wife Brenda)Sloan of Knightstown,Tammy (husband Luke) Goodpastor of Yorktown and Jody (wife Charlotte) Sloan of New Castle and David Sloan of Louisville,KY;six great-grandchildren,Amanda Sloan,Clinton Sloan,Christopher Sloan,Clara Sloan,Jacob Goodpastor and Jessica Sloan;step-grandchildrn,Michael Johnson and Thomas and Amelia Cox;one sister,Etta (husband Lyle) Dotson of Jackson, MI.;and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents,she is preceded in death by her husband,Kay Sloan;an infant son, Kenford Homer Sloan;five sisters,Bessie Gregory, Irene Hall,Mayda Riddle,Elizabeth Cecil and Edna Orr.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sat.,Apr. 7,at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.
