George J. Garcia, 97, of Brownsville, entered into the glory of his eternal life on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville with his loving family at his side. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susana Garcia; and two sisters: Maria del Carmen Garcia and Esperanza G. de la Rosa.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 71 years, Lydia T. Garcia; his children: George A. Garcia of Mercedes, Olda M. (Jim) Sulewski, and Inelda Linda Garcia both of Brownsville; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation and a rosary service was held Monday in Brownsville at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive. Entombment services followed in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park. Mr. Garcia's grandsons and nephew were honored to be serving as his pallbearers. The American Legion Funeral Honor Guard rendered military honors prior to entombment.
