Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Ollie E. and Pernecy Thomason Garrett. Mrs. Chandler was a homemaker, and was a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Co-Ed Sunday School Class. She was active in the community as a volunteer at Hillcrest Hospital for more than 20 years, with over 9,000 hours of service. Mrs. Chandler was also a past president of Simpsonville Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret C. Rice of Matthews, N.C., and Sarah C. and Jonie F. Sherbert, of Simpsonville; one son, J. Carol Chandler; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chandler was predeceased by a daughter, Faye C. Hammond.
Mrs. Chandler was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a friend to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Simpsonville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Glen Bolt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Nov. 8, 2002, at Cannon
Funerals and Cremations in Simpsonville. Burial will be at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn.
