ANNANDALE - Lois Manning passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2012 at home, surrounded by her family. She was 89.

She was born March 6, 1922 in Rimersburg, Pa. and lived there until moving to Annandale in 1946. She was a daughter of Robert O. and Gertrude Bashline Rimer.
Lois was associated with Hunterdon Medical Center since its inception. She was an Emergency Room R.N. for 30 years and continued as a volunteer at HMC after her retirement, giving over 50 years of devoted service. She was well- known for her dedication to her profession.
She received her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was an Army nurse veteran of World War II, serving as a first lieutenant from 1943 to 1945 in Europe. She served with the First Army and Patton's Third Army and landed at Utah Beach after the D-Day invasion, where she took care of American casualties of the invasion.
Memberships include Annandale Reformed Church, American Legion Post 188 in High Bridge, Annandale Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Rutgers Living History Society.
Lois was noted for her personalized yearly Christmas card which outlined the events of the year. She enjoyed travel and visited every continent in the world. During her most recent trip, she was honored at the 65th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France at the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach.
Her husband, Bradley F. Manning died in 1987. She was also pre-deceased by one brother, Ray Rimer; and two sisters, Virginia Rimer and Ruth Keefer.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Robert C. and Lisa Ellis Manning of Pittstown and Richard B. and Ruth Manning of Livingston; two daughters and their husbands, Ruth Alice and Al Clark of Hackettstown and Janice M. and Ted Crawford of Milford; one brother, James Rimer; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: Calling hours Thursday, Feb. 23, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon. Funeral services 10 a.m. Friday at the Annandale Reformed Church, 2 West St. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Cokesbury.
