Mr. Bally was retired from the Roper Corp. and also worked for Bisaillon Excavating Inc. He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Kankakee, the son of Rantz J. and Mary Allison Bally. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for two years. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, the Hundred Club and the Keyman's Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He liked gardening, RV-ing, traveling, camping and having coffee with his friends at the Lions Hall. He was a University of Illinois fan, a Chicago sports fan and an IndyCar fan. He loved his dogs.
Surviving are his wife, the former Suzanne Roberts Smith, of Bonfield, whom he married Dec. 31, 1981; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristina and Brian Thomas, of Bourbonnais, and Karen and David Taylor, of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Alec Mueller, Ryan Wyse, Lauren Thomas and Addison Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Bally and Fred Bally; one sister, Mary Lou Schranz; and four special aunts, Pete Bally, Candace Black, Carolyn "Mick" Taylor and Caroline Cobb; and uncle, Dr. Charles Allison.
