Her family moved to Holladay, Utah when she was a young child. She attended schools there and graduated from Granite High School in 1947. She played violin in the orchestras in high school and at Brigham Young University where she met Dale Ridd, the love of her life.
They were married on September 3, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised 4 children.
Marta was very active in the LDS church where she served faithfully in various callings. She loved being a mother and was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed reading, music, poetry, traveling with her husband, and everything life had to offer. She was a very gentle and unselfish person.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dale; her 4 children: Colleen (Ken) Howcroft, Salt Lake City, Utah; Vern (Mitzi) Ridd, Rigby, Idaho; Jim (Julie) Ridd, Fruit Heights, Utah; Debi (Scott) Hanks, Pleasant Grove, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Owen(Virginia) Lambert, Wendell Lambert, and one sister: Ona Capecelatro. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Willowcreek 9th Ward Chapel, 2350 E. Creek Road, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the same location. Interment-Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery.
