Bob was born in Saginaw, Missouri June 30, 1924 to Emory and Ovola Compton. Bob was the oldest son of four boys. Bob joined the Army before graduating from High School. He served in World War II as a Surgical Technician in the South Pacific. He was a retired Greyhound bus driver with service to Greyhound for 35 years. Bob married Irene Larios in 1954, they had one daughter, Cheryl, they were later divorced. He married Cherie Morgan April 19, 1980. Bob loved his home and gardens, he truly was a masterful gardener. He served in all his Church callings and had a great love for genealogy. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Cherie; children, Cheryl (Tom) Lyons, Scott (Jan) VanKatwyk and Kristy Van Katwyk; five grandchildren; one great grandson; brothers, Fred and Charles Compton. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 4th Ward, 4310 S. 3200 W. A visitation will be held for family and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 S., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Ward. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
