Television Personality. A longtime Chicago news anchor, he began in television news at KMTV in Omaha, Nebraska as the stations first news anchor. He served as on-air news anchor from 1950 until 1960, when he left for Chicago (his replacement at KMTV was a 22 year old Tom Brokaw). In 1960 he began work at WMAQ-TV, working there until 1976 when he left for New York to become newsreader for the “Today Show”. He worked there until 1981. In 1984 Floyd moved back to Chicago to become the news anchor for the 6 pm news at WLS-TV, working there until 1998, when he retired.
