Died in the Sellerstown community about seven miles from Whiteville, North Carolina.

She and her family were eating supper when Harris Williams barged into their house on the evening of March 23, 1978, shooting her husband The Reverend Robert Nicholas twice, once in the shoulder and in the hip. He then shot her once in the chest. They were both shot in front of their very young daughter and son. Ramona succumbed to the gunshot to her chest moments later. This all happened in the parsonage near the Free Welcome Holiness Church at 578 Sellers Town Road, Whiteville, North Carolina 28472.
