Obituary, The Oklahoman, Sep 12, 1993:
Wayne Mark Laird died Sep 9, 1993 and was born Nov 18, 1921 in Woodville OK to Rebecca and Mark L. Laird.

Wayne entered the Army in 1939 and was posted at Ft Sam Houston in San Antonio TX where he was a field artilleryman. He was also posted at Ft Sill where he served as a drill sergeant. Later he was sent to Hawaii, the Phillippine Islands and New Guinea. He was discharged at the end of World War II in 1945.

Afer the war, Wayne worked as a butcher, then as a pharmaceutical salesman for Norwich Products for 30 years until his retirement in 1982.

He was preceeded in death by his infant twin sons; his parents, Mark L. & Rebecca Laird; sisters, Lula Maude Garrett and Ruby Russell; brother, Frank Laird; and a half-brother, Mann Laird. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Laird of the home; son, Steven Laird of OKC; daughter, Pam Parsells and her husband, Doug; two grandsons who he dearly loved, Miles Laird and Chad Raunborg of OKC. He is also survived by three sisters,
Rurie Hamons of Duncan OK; Eloise Gore of Buena Park CA;
and Betty Organ of OKC; many nephews, nieces and dear friends.

Wayne's interests included trips to Las Vegas, cooking, manicuring his beautiful lawn, and going to his grandson's little league baseball games.

Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Sep 14 at 11 am at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with burial in Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Wayne will be best remembered for his great sense of humor which he maintained until the very end. He will be greatly missed.
