Margaret was born to Valentine and Mary Swarty Hill. She first married Solomon Steffa Sr. on 1-16-1853 in Ogle Co. They had two children Solomon Jr. and Frank Henry.She became a widow from this marriage. She then married John C. Bowman on 9-15-1863 in Mt. Carroll IL. They had 4 children, Josiah (Cora Lashbrook), William Clarence (Anna MAry Cook), Jennie MArgaret (Aaron Allen), Robert Valentine (Mary Eisenbarth).
