Mrs. Augusta Dannhaus, nee Buls, was born on the 25th day of May 1886, in Washington County, Texas. As a young girl, she married Albert Dannhaus in 1904 and they made their home in Pleasant Hill, Washington County. In 1914, Mr. Dannhaus bought a farm in the Guy community where they lived until about 4 years ago when they made their home in Needville.
Their union was blessed with nine children, five sons and four daughters. Mrs. Dannhaus took sick 18 months ago and last year she underwent an operation at a Houston hospital and it seemed that her health was restored. But later her trouble came back and for the last four weeks grew worse. She was brought to the Polly Ryon Hospital Wednesday, July 11, and died July 14 at 3:15 p.m. reaching an age of 65 years, one month and 19 days.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Dannhaus of Needville; five sons, Fred of Freeport, Herbert of Lake Jackson, Arthur of Guy, Albert of Needville and Celestine of Rosenberg; four daughters, Mrs. Lydia Klaus of Barbers Hill, Mrs. Hilda Elolf of Needville, Mrs. Irene Levandoski of Galena Park, Mrs. Mildred Sweeny of Paris Landing; 23 grandchildren four half brothers, Henry, Willie and George Presmeyer of Washington County and Walter Presmeyer of Needville; two half-sisters, Mrs. Ella Fletnze and Mrs. Matis Tilden and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Needville Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. J. R. Vilt officiating. Burial was in the Needville Public Cemetery. Pallbearers were Fritz Schwettmann, Fritz Hackstedt, Felix Gorka, Les Hartfield, P. C. Lessner and Emil Sydow. Funeral services were under the direction of the Foerster Funeral Home.
