George Baker, an operator for U. S. Steel Corp. in Pittsburg for 35 years, died Saturday at his home in Antioch. He was 93.

The native of Cabot, Ark., lived in Pittsburg for 40 years before moving to Antioch three months ago. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union Local 1440 who retired in 1970. He belonged to Masonic Grand Lodge 319 in Cabot for 50 years. He was a member of Pittsburg Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Parmley and Joyce Jaime, both of Antioch; sons, Don Baker of Madera, Emmett Baker of San Lorenzo and J.L. Baker of Lindsay; stepsons, Braxton Radd of Bolivar, Mo., and Norman Radd of Nevada, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his three wives, Lillie, Ina and Laura Baker.
