Donald Lee Mackey was born on July 18, 1936 in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Howard and Leona (Rohwedder) Mackey. He graduated from Olin High School in 1953. He married Barbara Holub on January 19, 1958 in Wyoming, Iowa. Donald was a hog buyer for 34 years, working for Wilsons, Heinhold and IBP. He was member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Olin. He was a volunteer EMT for Olin Ambulance and a 4-H leader for Olin Hawkeyes.
Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara Mackey of Marion; 7 children, Jim (Dar Smoleck) Mackey of Mechanicsville; Jacki (Jim)Luckstead of Anamosa, Jeri (Mike) Hartl of Mechanicsville, Jeff Mackey of Stanwood, Mike (Jill) Mackey of Blum, Texas, Michelle (Curt Gauley) Mackey of Marion, and Jo Merrick of Tuscon, Arizona; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; & 2 brothers, Larry Mackey of Farley and Lyle (Lorraine) Mackey of Mason City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
