Verla Marlene Ballard, 73, passed away peacefully on Jan 24, 2006 with
her children at her side. She was born Nov 23, 1932 in Alton, IL. After making her new home in Scottsdale in 1978, she was employed by AT&T and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Scottsdale. Due to her God given gift of compassion for others, Verla was a caregiver for many years. Her family and friends are forever grateful for her love and devotion. Verla is survived by her daughters, Janice Ballard of Phoenix, AZ, and Karen and David Hargiss of Alton, IL and a son, Eric and Aurora Ballard of Phoenix, AZ. Verla is blessed with eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her former husband and two brothers. Verla was loved by all and will remain in our hearts forever. A celebration of Verla's life will be held at the Westchester Care Center Chapel, 6100 S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ on Monday, Jan 30th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Verla Ballard Memorial Fund, at any Wells Fargo Bank, (or sent to family) and will be equally distributed between Bible Study Fellowship, and Christian Family Care Agency, both of which Verla was an active and staunch supporter.
