Miriam VanBibber was the daughter of John VanBibber and Chloe Standifer. She was born about 1773 in Botetourt County, Virginia. One of her sisters was married to Jesse Boone, the son of Daniel Boone. Miriam married John Reynolds about 1790 in Point Pleasant, which was known as Ft. Randolph, Mason County, Virginia. He was the son of Silas Reynolds. John and Miriam had eight children, including Ellicott, and settled in the Kanawha area.

John and Miriam both died in Kanawha County, Virginia, John in 1832 and Miriam on February 13, 1850. The 1840 census for Kanawha County shows an adult female, 60 to 70 years old, living with the VanBibber Reynolds family. Most likely this was Miraim.

In 2000, John's grave was located in the abandoned Reynolds Cemetery, circa 1830-1900, at West Belle, near the mouth of Burning Springs Branch in Marmet, along with the graves of several other members of the family. This location is now located in West Virginia. There were also several unidentified graves in the cemetery, which probably contain the remains of Miriam and could be the burial place of their son Ellicott. The graves were relocated to Montgomery Memorial Park in London, Kanawha County, West Virginia.
