Rachel Barton was the daughter of Roberts Barton and his first wife, Jane Thompson. Roberts Barton was a well known miller in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. His wife Jane Thompson died in 1832, leaving behind at least five daughters, though early Census' might indicate that there may have been a few additional children. The burial location is not currently known for Jane Thompson Barton though every indication is that the family was continuing in Uniontown at the time of her death.
Roberts Barton was then married in about 1835 to Jane Skiles Beeson, the widow of Henry Beeson, who also died in 1832. She was the mother of one son, Jesse Beeson and one daughter, Mary Ann Beeson who married George W. Rutter.
Rachel Barton was married to John Steele Harah and they were the parents of Eliza 'Lida' Barton Harah, born 22 July 1856, who married Wallace Frost.
John Steele Harah was then married to Annette McKee and they were the parents of several children.
