Obituary in unidentified newspaper:
SAMUEL ADAMS DIES
Member of Presbyterian Church for Over Fifty Years
Samuel Adams, 81 years old, a resident of Sioux City for over twenty years and an active member of the Presbyterian church for over half a century, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 1701 Rebecca street. Death was caused primarily by senility. Mr. Adams had been in failing health for some time.
He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Miss Anna E. Adams, Miss Addie Belle Adams and Miss Emma Adams, and two sons, John Quincy Adams and George R. Adams.
Mr. Adams was born on September 10, 1831, on a farm in Indiana county, Pennsylvania. For thirty-four years he made his home in Pennsylvania, where he was married. He joined the Presbyterian church at the town of Indiana, Pa., in 1856.
In the fall of 1865 Mr. Adams moved with his family to Rock Island, Ill. After residing in Illinois for seventeen years he resolved to take up his home in the Dakotas, which were then opening for settlement. He settled near Bismarck, N. D., in the spring of 1883, on the site of what is now the town of Sterling.
On moving to Sioux City 20 years ago Mr. Adams transferred his membership in the Presbyterian church at Sterling to the First Presbyterian church in Sioux City, of which he has been a member ever since.

[Note: Samuel & Susannah Adams had another child named Rebecca A. Adams (Jan. 1, 1862 - March 22, 1865). She is likely buried in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island Co., Illinois, where 2 other children Ida & Synthetta are buried, but I cannot prove it. There are likely 2 Rebecca Adams buried in the Campbell Bothell family plot there, even though the only Rebecca listed is the wife of Samuel's brother James N. There is a smaller marker in the plot which says only REBECCA and is likely the marker for the child Rebecca A.]
