Born November 1, 1920 in Stephenson County she was the daughter of Walter and Helen (Bergman) Moss. She married John Wilhelms August 30, 1941 and he died January 30, 2000.
Her memberships included Zion Church and the Ladies Aid of the church, and over 50 years with the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary
She worked at Burgess, then Sears, and then Micro Switch retiring in 1989.
She was raised in a large family and always mention timed spent with family as the most important. Helen loved to play cards.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen O’Connor, Rexanna (George) Lamm; two sons, Leon (Maureen) Wilhelms and Arnie (Debbie) Wilhelms all of Freeport; fourteen grandchildren, Dawn (Steve) Levins of Rockton, John D. Wilhelms of Freeport, Karen Jane O’Connor of Barrington Hills, Jim (Jane) O’Connor, John O’Connor, Jill (Scott) McClellan all of Freeport, Joy (Rick) Hudak of Grand Junction, CO, Jodi O’Connor of Stevens Point, WI, Daniel Lamm of Platteville, WI, Erika Lamm, Renee, Tara, KoDee, and Brandi Wilhelms all of Freeport; great-grandchildren, Robbie and Alaina Levins of Rockton, Bailee and Courtney McClellan, Jacob and Lauren O’Connor, Kilar Huenefeld all of Freeport, Kate Hudak of Grand Junction, Colorado; Katya and Michael O’Connor of Barrington Hills; two sisters, Kathryn (Vernon) Lincicum of Monroe, Wisconsin, Geraldine (Russell) Bradford of Lanark.
Her parents; husband; 4 brothers, 5 sisters; and one son in-law, Jim O’Connor, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be Thursday 1:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Bob Schroeder of Zion Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens
Friends may call Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
