Mrs. Abston died on Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at the Sunnyside Health Care Center and Rehabilitation in Monterey following an extended illness.
She was born on April 23, 1912, in Overton County to the late Oscar and Ollie Effie Sells Lacy. Mrs. Abston was a homemaker.
Her family includes three daughters, Nellie Mahaney and Emma Robbins, both of Mayland, and Betty Smith of Crawford; five sons, R.D., George, Marvin, and Arnold Abston, all of Mayland, and Willie Ray Abston of Crawford; two brothers, Dewey Hays of Grimsley and Fount Hays of Florida; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Ray Abston; a son, J.L. Abston; and a granddaughter, Donna Kay Abston.
Rev. Charles Greatorex will officiate at the services.
