Actor. Born in Moscow, Russia, he was a graduate of the Russian Principal Dramatic School and began his career on the stage before making the transition to movies in 1925. He appeared in 113 films between 1925 and 1952 and was noted for being in Universal Studios' first two "Dracula" films. His many credits include "The Swan" (1925), "Arizona Terror" (1931), "Air Devils" (1938), "Hostages" (1943), "Yolanda and the Thief" (1945) and "Macao" (1952). He died at the age of 58 in Hollywood, California.
