Judge Joseph B. Oder Dead.

Frostburg, Md., Aug. 25. - Judge Joseph Benson Oder, of the Allegany county orphans' court and founder of the Frostburg Mining Journal, died here today. He was a native of Virginia and learned the printing trade. After serving with Stonewall Jackson throughout the civil war he taught school at Linden, Va., three years and subsequently became a clerk for three more. He came to Frostburg in 1871 and established the Mining Journal. He was elected to the Maryland house of delegates in 1877 as a Democrat and was defeated for the State senate in 1882. Judge Oder was a Mason and Knight of Pythias. He was twice married. Surviving are his wife and five children - Mrs. Annie B. Miller, Cumberland; Mrs. Oder Harrell, Detroit; Mrs. J. Marshall Price and Mrs. James J. Hitchins, Frostburg, and Arch Oder, Fort Benton, Mont.
