Lloyd Stanton Armstrong, 73, a former Lafayette resident, died at 9:15 AM Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1970, in Veterans Hospital in Marion, IN. He had been at the hospital 7 years and seriously ill for two and one half months. Mr. Armstrong was born in Pittsburg, IN, and was educated in Carroll County. Prior to retiring in 1960, he was employed at the Purdue University Library. His first marriage was to Helen Garvin; she died in 1934. His second marriage in 1938, was to Florence J. Hurley, who died in 1963. He was a member of VFW Post 1154 in Lafayette. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Beverly Jennings of New York City, Mrs. Doris Sherry of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Mary Ann Akers of Pine Village; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Walker of Harlingen, TX; two brothers, Byron E. Armstrong of Rushville, and Cass Armstrong of Lafayette; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Service Oct. 23 at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel, the Rev. Russell Richardson officiating; Shipps-Kanzelman, Oxford, funeral directors in charge.
