GEORGE UNCAPHER, CIVIL WAR VETERAN, IS DEAD

George Uncapher, 84, veteran of the Civil war and resident of Northeast Kansas for 56 years, died at his home near Valley Falls late Tuesday [Dec 14].

He was born at Livermore, Pa., April 16, 1842, and came to Atchison county in 1870, later moving to Jefferson county, where he died.

Surviving are the widow and seven children: Mrs. Mary A. White and Mrs. Josie Hamon, Indiana, Pa., and George Uncapher, at home, children by a former wife who died in 1881, and Mrs. Belle Freeland, Effingham, Daniel Uncapher, Georgetown, Colo., and Misses Ella and Elizabeth Uncapher, at home. There are also sixteen living grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at the Coal Creek Evangelical church by the Rev. H.D. Hower, pastor. Burial will be in the Nortonville cemetery.
