"Several from this neighborhood attended the funeral of David Sears and report all of his living children present, Rebecca Drake came from Zumont and James from Wichita, Kansas; Tilman from Iowa; Ella Dickerson and family who have been with him for several months, and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lizzie Sears of Keswick. Several grandchildren also were present. He was laid to rest in Friends cemetery, east of Coal Creek, where his first wife, the mother of his children was laid more than 40 years ago and his daughter Elvira a few days later. His sheaf of years was full but the sympathy of many friends goes out to the lonely old widow, who has been his companion for many years."
