EDWARD ALAN KNAPP
1932 – 2009
Ed passed away peacefully at home in Santa Fe on August 17, 2009. Ed was born in Salem, Oregon, received his PhD in physics at US Berkeley and worked for many years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. In the course of his distinguished career in science he also served as Director of the National Science Foundation, President of the Universities Research Association and president of the Santa Fe Institute. Ed will be greatly missed his family, friends, and colleagues.
The family requests no flowers. Gifts in memory of Ed can be made to Mayo Clinic Pancreatic Cancer Research (Department of Development, Mayo Clinic, 13400 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ 85259). A memorial service will be held at a later date.
