**Buried beside her son, James W. Griffin.

Sarah Ocoore was a full blood Cherokee of the Wolf Clan probably from Oconee or Anderson Co., SC [Source: Dennis M. "High Eagle" Neil by email]. She came with her son James to Indian Territory in 1834.

They sold their property holdings to John Ward, probably the son of Brian (Bryan) Ward, husband of Nancy "Beloved Woman of the Cherokees" Ward. (Source: Ibid.]

She was the wife of John Griffin, a white trader with the Cherokees probably born around 1770; they had the following children: James W. and William and other siblings who emigrated to Indian Territory with their mother and Daniel Jr., and Daniel Sr. who decided not to emigrate to the west.

Daniel Sr. is mentioned among Fannie Griffin and Eliza Griffin's Guion Miller applications. **Note: Dennis M. "High Eagle" Neal is a descendant of Daniel Griffin Sr.
