John F. Fisher

John Franklin Fisher, 86, of Mammoth, died Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Emery Mullins of QUICK, after a long illness. A native and lifelong resident of Kanawha County, Mr. Fisher was a former employee of the Warner Colleries at Mammoth.

Surviving are his wife, Lydia; two other daughters, Mrs. James Carr of Valley Fork and Mrs. Ray Lanham of Charleston; two sons, Woodrow of Mammoth and Thomas of Dorothy; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Fidler and Frame Funeral Home in Belle.

(John's death record lists burial at Ward, which is now a non-existent coal mining town.)

Notes:

-John married first Mary May Boggess (1878-c 1907) on 24 Dec 1897 near Liberty, Putnam, WV. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson "Tom" Boggess & Mary Catharine "Katie" Carney. In the 1900 census they had no children.

-John married second Lydia Mae Boggess (1885-1962) in 1907, a 1910 census date. She was the daughter of David Kemper Boggess & Virginia Harrison. John and Lydia had six children listed in their 1930 census: Dewey Hyman, Woodson Wilson, Juanita W "Midge," Mabel, Thomas K, & Virginia M.

Wife Lydia Mae Boggess was buried at Mount Lewis Cemetery. See her obituary in her Memorial Page 84594081.

-John's father-in-laws, Andrew Jackson Boggess & David Kemper Boggess, were brothers.

-Son of Thomas M Fisher & Jemima Mary Kelly.

-Warner Colleries was Warner Colleries Coal Mining Company in Mammoth, WV.

-John's WV Death Certificate lists his occupation as retired timberman.
