DARNALL MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Robert Louis Darnall, 84, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, educator and gospel preacher, passed from this life on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after an extended illness. He was born August 3, 1924, in Paducah, KY to the late Joel and Sue Bell Douglas Darnall, the youngest of five children. Robert was educated in the public schools in Paducah, Freed-Harademan University, Murray State University and Peabody /Vanderbilt University. As a young man, he taught American history, Bible and Greek at Freed-Harademan University, but found his greatest love in studying, preaching and teaching the Bible. He worked with the young people for 22 consecutive summers at Fall Creek Falls Summer Bible Camp. Robert served Churches of Christ throughout the south-east and retired to North Carolina where he continued to serve and teach as long as his health permitted. Mr. Darnall is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joanna; a daughter, Janet (David) Burnham of Murfreesboro, TN; a son, Joel Thomas Darnall of Mocksville; three grandsons, Mitchell, Mark and Matthew Burnham; a brother, Jesse Paul Darnall of Washington, D.C.; a niece, Terri Jane Ellis of Paducah, TN; and a nephew, John Darnall of Nashville, TN. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, at Eaton Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. The family requests that memorials be considered for Agape of NC, 302 College Road Greensboro, NC 27410; Carolina Bible Camp, P.O. Box 1234, Mocksville, NC 27028; Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; Davie Co. Public Library, 371 N. Main St., Mocksville, NC 27028; or to a charity of the donor' s choice.
