Mr. Thompson was a native of St. Johns, Fla. He was the son of the late George Wesley and Kizzie Temple (Batton) Thompson.
He was retired from the Alabama School for the Deaf as a shop foreman. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Faye Davis Thompson.
Survivors include his son, Patrick (Mary) Still, Gadsden; daughters, Sarah (Leon) Frier, Gadsden, Dorothy Still (Alberto) Rivera, Boaz, and Sybelle Ortega (Justin) Holems, Gadsden; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The "Still" surname: Edna Faye Davis was married to Hansel Thompson and had children. Then she married Pat Still for a short time before remarrying for the second time to Hansel Thompson. During this process, Hansel's children were given their stepfather's surname.
