Dr. John Thomas James was the youngest son of John James and Clarissa Taylor James. He was 5'9" tall, had dark hair, ruddy complexion and hazel eyes. He took the oath of Allegiance at Ft. Delaware, DE in 1862 and was released 17 Jun 1865. He was a 2nd Lt in Co A - 23rd Bat, Virginia infantry. He was captured at Winchester on 19 Sept 1864 and sent to a camp near Waynesboro, VA. After the war, he married Dorcas McClure, daughter of Joseph McClure on 21 Nov 1866 in Washington Co., VA. Both John T and his brother Andy moved to Oklahoma. Both are buried at the Francis Cemetery, Jackson Co., OK
