Author, Chef. Author of several cookbooks in the late 1800s and influential food columnist for Chicago’s Daily National Hotel Reporter. After using the word “recipe” in hundreds of pages of his column, Mr. Whitehead eventually decided to buck the tide and opt for “receipt” instead. He was the "Chef de Cuisine" of Hotel Monte Sano. His works include "Cooking for Profit" (1893), "The American Pastry Cook" (1889), a book that was designed for bakers on steamships and hotels.
