Marjorie A. Copen, 82, of Route 2, Elizabeth, died April 6, 1996, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley. She was born in Wirt County, a daughter of the late John Wesley and Lucy Genevra Kidwell Hickman. She attended Wirt County schools and was a graduate of Elizabeth High School. She was awarded a lifetime teaching certificate and was employed by the Wirt County Board of Education for more than 33 years, retiring in 1973 as an Elizabeth Elementary School teacher. She was a member of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees, Wirt County Association of Retired School Employees and Wirt County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles and gardening and was the adult Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent at Owl Hill United Methodist Church, Chestnut Run.

Surviving are one son, Roy H. Copen of Elizabeth; two daughters, Adith Spencer and Ann Harris, both of Elizabeth; one sister, Maxine Eagle of Elizabeth; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-gandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Copen; and one son, Charles H. "Bud" Copen.

Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon at Owl Hill Cemetery, Chestnut Run.
