Mrs.Lucy Matilda Hammer,wife of Alonzo L. Hammer, 248 N. Main street, died Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock in the home of her daughter,Mrs.O.R.Fyke, of Maroa. The death followed an illness of six months with pneumonia. Mrs.Hammer has been a resident of this city for the past 10 years coming here from Kinmundy.
Mrs. Hammer,formerly Miss Lucy Matilda Lansford was born near Fosterburg, Ill., March 4,1879. She was married to Alonzo Hammer Sept. 4,1904 in Salem,Ill. She was a member of the Christian church in Kinmundy.
Besides her husband she leaves one daughter, Mrs.O.R.Fyke, Maroa, four sons, Ellis Hammer, Peoria, Carl, Burdett, Wesley all of Decatur; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Atkins, Kinmundy, Mrs. Ella Garett, Kinmundy, Mrs.Cliffie Gillespie, Shobonier and Mrs. Charles Robb, Decatur, one brother Monroe Lansford, Fosterville, Ill and seven grandchildren.
The body was taken to the J. J.Moran with services conducted in Moran chapel Sunday and the body will be taken to Kinmundy for burial.
