Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Conray (1958-2012)
POTTSBORO - Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Conary, 53, passed away after a brief illness on March 28 at Medical Center of Plano.
Kathy was born August 28, 1958, in Denison, the daughter of Charles Richard "Dick" and Verna Mae Allen. She attended Pottsboro Schools and graduated from Pottsboro High School in 1976. Kathy received a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from LeTourneau University in Longview, and if she had a minor, it would have been in horticulture, as she had a green thumb and previously owned a nursery on Morton Street, created many landscaping designs for residents in Grayson County, and was well known in the gardening community.
Kathy married Donny Conary of Denison, on May 31, 2003. She was self-employed as an independent distributor for the North Texas Kangen Oasis Water Systems. Some of her many passions included: dog breeding of party poodles and rat terriers with her own website, antiquing, creating a spa and skin care product line, horticulture and landscape design, competition waterskiing, and scuba diving. She loved to cook for friends and family, rescue animals, and take occasional trips to Choctaw. Her homemade jams, jellies and baked goods were Christmas delights and highly anticipated each year.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Donny Conary of Pottsboro; father, Charles Richard "Dick" Allen of Pottsboro; brother, Charles Allen and wife Jody of Denison, sister, Carol Choate-Brownlee of Denison, stepson, James Conary of Denton, aunt, Fay Schnitker of Denison, 11 nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Verna Mae Allen.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Stephen Mocio officiating. She will be laid to rest in the family plot at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, next to her grandfather who was a nurseryman. Rosary will be held Sunday, April 1, at 4 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, with family visitation immediately following.
Pallbearers are James Conary, Ronnie Conary Jr., Billy Dixon, Rick Perkins, Bobby Joe Schnitker, Ronnie Schnitker, Mark Schnitker and John Schnitker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , 8900 Carpenter Frwy, Dallas, TX 75247, American Heart Association , 1615 Stemmons Frwy, Dallas, TX 75207 or any charity of your choice.
