Spec. 4 Danny David Dye, 23, of 5005 E. Lewis Ave., was killed on action in Vietnam. His mother, Mrs. Azelle Dye, said she was informed that he was killed last Tuesday while on his last combat patrol before completing his duty in Viet Nam.

Another Fresnan, Pfc. Michael B. Maudlin, 21, son on Mr. and Mrs. Monzy Maudlin of 280 N. Recreation Ave., was killed in action the same day. Both were members of the 1st Air Calvary Division.

Dye had been in Viet Nam about 10 months. He joined the Army a year ago, took his basic training at Ft. Polk, La., and graduated from jump school at Ft. Benning, Ga.

He was graduated in 1962 from Clovis Unified High School, where he was an outstanding athlete, and from the College of the Sequoias, where he majored in criminology. A native of the Bunkie, La., he had lived in the Fresno County since 1945.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his father, Jesse Dye of Seattle, Wash; two brothers, Shirl and Jeffery Dye of Fresno; a sister, Mrs. Sonja Goss of Fremont, Alameda County, and his grandfather, Europe Dye of Pinedale.
