Kathy Gravely Powell, 84, of Simpson Street, Greeneville, died Friday afternoon.
Her family said, "She went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon at Signature Health Care as her family sang to her."
She was a member of Lord's Tabernacle, where she attended as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the Ladies Aide and was a Sunday school assistant.
"She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a friend to everyone she met," her family said.
Survivors include: her husband: Norman Ray Powell; one daughter: Mary Cook; one son-in-law: Rex Massey; her grandchildren and their spouses: Ricky and Ginger Cook, Amanda and Randy Osborne, Jenny Massey, Michelle and David Chambers, Lee and Miranda Lawson, Angel and Wesley Underwood, and Lisa and Karl Baxter; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Laythryn Gravely and Baker Gravely; two goddaughters and their husbands: Robin and Gary Shepherd, who were also her caregivers, and Carolyn and Bill Waddell; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bobby and Bernita Powell; and her many friends at Lord's Tabernacle and First Church of the Nazarene.
She was the daughter of the late Jessie and Maggie Gravely and was preceded in death by a daughter: Shirley Massey; one brother: Walter Gravely; and seven sisters: Clefy Walls, Mary Lou Duncan, Reathie Peak, Evelyn Akers, Edith Viars, Nellie Viars, and Lucille Bond.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The body will be taken to Lord's Tabernacle at 1 p.m. Monday to lie in state for one hour preceding the service at 2 p.m. at the church.
The Rev. Buster Shelton, the Rev. Stephen Rutherford, and the Rev. Ray Shelton will officiate.
Interment will be in Stone Dam Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Cook, Randy Osborne, Rex Massey, Tommy West, Jimmy "Goober" Shiflet and Kyle Harris.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Signature Health Care and Caris Hospice
