COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Edith Halfacre Birdwell, 73, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sam Flatt Cemetery in Jackson County.
The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 17, and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Birdwell died on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at her home in Bloomington Springs.
She was born on March 16, 1930, in Jackson County to the late Milton and Minnie Brewington Halfacre.
Mrs. Birdwell was a homemaker and a member of the Union Hill Church of Christ.
Her family includes four sons, Stanley Birdwell of Cookeville, Gary Birdwell of Vandalia, Ohio, Donnie Birdwell of Bloomington Springs and David Birdwell of New Orleans; two daughters, Linda West and Jackie Reed, both of Bloomington Springs; three brothers, Web Halfacre of Bloomington Springs, Alvin Halfacre of Cookeville and Audia Halfacre of Sparta; a sister, Beatrice Chaffin of Detroit, Mich.; a special nephew, Virgil Halfacre of Cookeville; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Birdwell; three brothers, J.B., Ernie and William Halfacre; four sisters, Gennie Dyer, Olar Wheeler, Winnie Halfacre and Kathrine Johnson; a grandchild, Christopher Birdwell; and a greatgrandchild, Justin Reed Whitehead.
