Together Again OGDEN - Oral Mae Asay Stites, 85, died Tuesday, January 11,
2005 at a local care center. She was born March 17, 1919 in Kanna Creek, CO, a
daughter of Isaac Allen and Emma Lucinda Gillespie Asay. She lived most of her
life in Ogden. On February 2, 1935, Oral married George Stites in Wellington,
Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. George
preceded her in death on December 10, 2002. She was a member of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission with her husband to the
Dallas, Texas Temple in 1985. She returned to Ogden to serve as a temple
worker in the Ogden Temple. Oral worked as a cook and manager for the Ogden
City Public Schools, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of
the Woodsman of the World and Good Sam Camping Association. She loved to bowl
with her husband and had won many trophies. She also loved to camp, hunt, work
in her yard in her flowers gardens, and loved doing thing s for other people.
Surviving are three sons, Harold (Valerie) Stites, Ogden; Wesley Stites,
Ogden; Allen (Diane) Stites, Roy; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Simpson Stites, Roy;
20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mona Ellis, Ogden; and Lola Kennedy, Portland,
OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Linda
Nichols, one grandson, one great-great-granddaughter, and eight brothers and
sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Roy
Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday
from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's
Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. The family wishes to thank
those at "The Gardens" for the love and care throughout the years; the staff
at Heritage Park who cared for her over the past few days, and especially
Julie and Jill from IHC Hospice. Email condolences to the family at
