Mary Carter Mallard, 78, widow of Perry Ray Mallard, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Mallard was born in Georgetown on May 8, 1933, a daughter of the late Herbert S. Carter and Carrie Dusenberry Carter.
She grew up in the Carver's Bay community of Georgetown Co. and lived most of her life in the Maryville area of Georgetown. Mrs. Mallard worked as an LPN nurse and later as a volunteer at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Screven Baptist Church.
Surviving are: a son, Bobby R. Mallard (Sue) of Georgetown; a daughter, Patricia M. Strickland (Dean) of Georgetown; three sisters, Vera Nell Cribb and Thelma Cribb, both of Georgetown, and Grace Smith of Columbia; four grandchildren, Amanda Payne (Rob), Shanna Aldridge, Suzanne Green, and Kimberly Jones (Ryan); and four great-grandchildren, Morgan Green, Taylor Jones, and Durst and Taylor Payne.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mallard was predeceased by a son, Ricky A. Mallard.
Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon, April 1, 2012, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. Officiating will be Kenny Johnson. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
