1st Lt. Doyle M. Hufstedler III, 25, of Abilene, Texas, was one of five Fort Riley soldiers killed on March 31, 2004, in Habbaniyah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device hit their armored personnel carrier.

Lt. Hufstedler was a 1997 Abilene High School graduate.

He entered the Army after graduating in 2002 from Texas A&M University, where he was in the Corps of Cadets.

He was posthumous awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
