FLOYD W. KING

Floyd Wellington King, 74, 102 W. Fourth St., died at 5:35 a.m. today in Mercy Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1898 in Colorado Springs, the son of William Rufus and Carrie Renshaw King.

Mr. King served in the U.S. Army in Co. G during World War I, taking part in three battles: the Meuse in Argonne and St. Michiel and Saudernaeh offensives. He received two gold service chevrons.

Mr. King married Freeda Harris, May 9, 1928, in Fort Scott. They lived for many years in San Diego where he was a crane rigger for the Navy. He retired in 1968 and they returned to Fort Scott.

Mr. King was a member of the Methodist Church, American Legion, VFW and World War I veterans.

Survivors include the wife, Freeda, of the home; one sister, Etha Maude Peters, Denver; two brothers, Clifford King, Tulsa, and Merilyn King, Tempe, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Konantz Chapel with Father Robert Freed officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery.

The family suggest donations to the American Cancer Fund.
