Louie Bonter, 96


Funeral services for Louie Bonter, 96, of Harbor Springs, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Gillian-Erwin Funeral Chapel in Harbor Springs. Rev. Edward Warner of the Stutsmanville Church will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasantview Cemetery.


Mr. Bonter died Aug. 16 at his residence on the Harbor-Petoskey Road. He was born March 6, 1882 in Muskegon and worked as a lumberman in his youth.


On Jan. 1, 1912, he married the former Addie Monroe. Since his marriage, Mr. Bonter has farmed in Emmet County.


Survivors include his wife; one son, Lee Bonter of Harbor Springs; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Schlosser of Petoskey, Mrs. Claude (Ardis) Allerding of Harbor Springs, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Fineout of Petoskey and Mrs. Harold (Lela) Sydow of Harbor Springs; 30 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; one brother, Theodore Bonter of Mackinaw City.


Friends may call at the Gillian-Erwin Funeral Chapel in Harbor Springs, beginning this evening (Thursday).
