Maggie Jane Galloway accompanied her mother, Hannah Williamson, and five sisters to Bismarck, ND by train in Feb 1878. Her father, Harry H. Galloway, came first, along with his mother Deborah and his brother Charles. The family lived in a tent between 3rd and 4th Streets on Ave. A when they first arrived. They lived in the Mandan/Bismarck area until 1900 when Mr. Galloway and sons Samuel and Amasa went by covered wagon back to Indiana. His wife and daughters followed him by train. In 1901, he became ill, so he, his wife and daughters returned to Bismarck by train. Sons Sam and Amasa and their cousin, Cap Williamson, drove the family back to Bismarck. They lived on a farm southeast of Bismarck until they could find a house in Bismarck. Maggie married James Montgomery. They owned a farm northeast of Bismarck.
