"He was engaged in the general merchandise business in Gadsden and Humboldt TN from 1878 to 1883, when he entered the ministry of the Methodist Church. He was a student in the Theological School of Vanderbilt Univ. from June to May, 1884, when he accepted a charge in the Memphis conference, and was ordained elder in Nov. 1886. Member, Memphis conference 1884-1889; North Texas conference 1889-1890; North-West Texas conference 1890-1894; New Mexico conference 1894-1901. In Sept. 1901 he left the settled ministry and became a travelling evangelist in Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, and Cuba, living in Tuscumbia, Alabama. In 1903 he contracted Malaria and was forced to leave the ministry because of ill health. In April 1905 he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he has lived ever since. He operated a nursery business from 1905 to 1918, and was employed by the Southern CA Edison Co., in the warehouse from 1918 to 1931, where he retired on pension. Since his retirement he has devoted his time to religious work and writing on religious subjects... Present address: 419 N. Jaunita Ave., LA"--Donie Adams Mitchum.
